Jumping aboard the 'top 5' bandwagon (because I identify with that High Fidelity mindset far more than anyone female is allegedly supposed to).

Ask me for any top five fannish things. Watchmen, NuWho/Torchwood, Pirates of the Caribbean, Top Gear, Petshop of Horrors, general Lovecraftian nonsense... knock yourself out!

Top five bits of Lovecraftian paraphernalia that you would like to own, real or fictional.

(Oh, and have some hamsters with your Lovecraft.)

God, this could take some time. ;) THERE IS SO MUCH OF IT!

(Oh, this is the lady who made my Cthulhu-on-a-Stick puppet. She doesn't have those on the site, but I can attest that the Cthulhu Spawn are adorable in person.

I'm also sooo tempted to ask her to make one of these - the second one down - in Bubastis form. She'd do it; she has a fabulous sense of humor.)

Haha! I'm not sure whether that would be cute or disturbing. (I love the Moothulhu, too. :D)

So. Um. That list. ;)

5. A Cthulhu plush. Preferably this (http://www.toymania.com/columns/spotlight/images/tvsupercplushtitle.jpg) one. It saddens me that I've been obsessing about Lovecraft for nigh-on three years now, and still nobody I know has got me one for Christmas. :(
4. Exham Priory. Yes, yes, I know it was a hotbed of cannibalistic debauchery and bizarre cultism, but I find the idea of a secret underground cavern piled with bones oddly beautiful. (Don't ask me why, I've no idea.)
3. After our conversation the other day, I have decided that I need one of these (http://www.miskatonic.net/pickman/mythos/bottle.htm). I'll put it on my shelf in the postgrad tutor office and use it to scare unsuspecting students. Now all I need to do is get myself some craft skills...
2. I think I actually would give away a limb to own an original copy of one of Lovecraft's letter. He wrote hundreds more words of correspondence than fiction, and some of them are fascinating. Those from the period after Sonia had left him, where he details how he was surviving in grinding poverty, are absolutely heartbreaking. Obviously I don't agree with/endorse many of his views, but some of the letters really make me feel for the guy nonetheless.
1. Well, obviously. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necronomicon) ;)

*sees icon, dies*

Really nice list. No one has gotten you a Cthulhu yet? C'mon people, get with the picture, srsly.

(I really hope you do a Bottled Deep One and it turns out well. I have likewise been tempted to make my own, although I foresee...issues should I try to ship it out of Thailand, because customs inspectors Will Not Get It.)

The original Lovecraft letter? Oof, yeah. I feel for the guy too-- he really had a shitty hand dealt him, although like you said, that doesn't excuse his attitudes towards some things.

(Hee. I wish the webcomic was still going)

I know, right? It's not like I don't drop enough hints.

I foresee...issues should I try to ship it out of Thailand, because customs inspectors Will Not Get It.

Hehe! Yes, I can imagine it wouldn't go down too well.

I would totally try it, except my goal is not to be That Person that gets a rule named after them in the Official Departure Handbook from my husband's employer. :)

Bwahaha! Can you imagine the utter WTF looks from future readers?
