It's for important fic-related reasons, obviously. XD

I'm not in the States, but my hubby has one of those, probably from the States :D

Oh, but they probably don't call it a beer coaster. I misunderstood your question I think. I think it'd be called just plain "coaster."

Thanks!

I call them 'coasters' at home but 'beer mats' in the pub, but that sounds like it might be quite British. Got to get the details right. ;)

I just call them coasters and they are found in pubs and restaurants under most glasses that hold cold liquids due to the condensation that drips down the outside of the cups. They are also used under coffee and tea cups if there isn't a saucer.

Yeah, we use them for the same thing here. ;) I'm just wondering what you call them when they're used in a bar.

Yep, just coasters!

The only thing I can't tell by looking at the pic is what it's made of? Is it like, sturdy cardboard, or something more solid/permanent?

To my knowledge, if it's a permanent thing like you could reuse indefinitely, I'd just call it a coaster. If it's the kind you use one time in a bar or restaurant that's made of cardboard, you would want to call it like a "paper coaster" or something probably to differentiate between this kind and the permanent kind that you keep. :P

Yep, it's a cardboard pub one. :) Thanks!
