I just call them coasters and they are found in pubs and restaurants under most glasses that hold cold liquids due to the condensation that drips down the outside of the cups. They are also used under coffee and tea cups if there isn't a saucer.

Yeah, we use them for the same thing here. ;) I'm just wondering what you call them when they're used in a bar.
