I don't enjoy reading sex scenes much, they're usually all so similar and are used as a superficial means of fixing everything.
I do agree that sex scenes can often be used that way, and I think that's a real shame. Because sex -- like almost everything else people do -- can be a form of communication, and it shows the characters in a situation we're unlikely to see onscreen, and there's absolutely no need for it to be formulaic. But there are some writers out there who are absolutely brilliant at bringing all that out. So... well, I'm glad this worked for you, is what I'm trying to say. :)
Cas briefly considering if he should fold up Dean's t-shirt is seriously one of the most intriguing details I've ever come across in fanfic.
Human!Cas is conscientious, he's trying so hard, and this just seemed like something he would do.
There might be more in this 'verse. If I ever manage to finish my current WIPs...
