Title: A Clean Slice of Life
Author: [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight
Fandom: Supernatural
Characters: Sam, Dean
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Implied violence against lamps. Excessive cleanliness and fascination with germs.
Word count: ~ 1800
Summary: Sam’s almost thirty when he discovers that his brother is actually a clean freak.

So, I woke up this morning to an awesome birthday present. :D [livejournal.com profile] frozen_delight wrote this wonderful, insightful fic in response to one of my prompts on the [livejournal.com profile] hoodie_time wishlist meme (which closes to new wishlists at the end of August, so if you have any wishes as yet unposted, better get them down quick!) I'd asked for anything focused on Dean's clean-freak tendencies, because that is my favourite thing, and she used the prompt as a filter for a serious of sharp observations, by turns heartbreaking, hilarious, and hopeful, of Sam and Dean's relationship, its many facets, and their differing relationships to the idea of home. It's absolutely lovely, and you should all go and read it right now! ♥

So, my [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen fic went up yesterday, and it's everything I could've hoped for. Whoever you are, anonymous author, I'd like to shower you with gratitude and cookies. ;)

Title: Haunted
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: ~3,000
Warnings: Canon character death; show-level violence
Summary: Linda Tran is a hunter on a mission.
Reccer's comments: I'm pretty much going to copypasta my comment from the story post, because I think that about sums it up: I just love everything about this. How Linda is part pragmatic badass, part long-suffering mom. The grief she's not quite able to access, and that this acknowledges the trauma she's survived and how she needs Kevin and the mission to keep herself going. And I love her resourcefulness, and the fact that it's the everyday indignities of hunting that really make it miserable. The choice of monsters is great, too--I'd love to see them on the show!

But my favourite thing is what the story does with Linda and Kevin's relationship here. Kevin's just heartbreaking, so sad and weary and ready to let go at such a young age, but in many ways still very much a kid. And how Linda has to navigate her protectiveness and need to save him versus acknowledging what he knows and what he's already suffered is perfect. Ahh, my poor heart. ♥ ♥ ♥

Chaos Crawls by [livejournal.com profile] sweetcarolanne. Lovecraftian slash, Nyarlathotep/OMC, NC-17, ~2000 words.

This is a lovely piece. It's both dreamy and creepy, and really captures the style of Lovecraft's 'Dunsany' period. Also, bonus kitties!
