I really enjoyed this! The notion of what it means for an angel to 'see' beings has always entranced me, and I love how many ways this gets inflected throughout this particular story--both in terms of Castiel's sudden lack of this ability, and how that underscores his difficulty as a human (just as much as negotiating every other human thing, in addition to the extreme perplexity that is Dean Winchester); and in terms of the witch's spell. How that weaves into the Gadreel plot works so well here, too. That moment when Castiel shows up at the door and sees Gadreel inside Sam, and its aftermath, is utterly heartrending.
Really lovely work, and wonderful Castiel insights, frustrations, yearnings, and passions. <33
